The Preacher and the Bear lyrics

Now the preacher sat up in the tree ,
Some sayhe hidded all night
Along about daylight he said"O Lord
If you don't hit that bear
You'll see one awful sight".
And just about then the limb let go
And the preacher come a flotin' down
Oh it was a sight to see hi
Just before he hit the ground.
With his knife he started hittin right and left
He put up a pretty good fight.
The bear grabbd him an' held him a little bit tight.
He lost his knif, but the bear held on with a vim.
Preacher cast his eyes to the Lord in the skies
And once more said to him---

Oh Lord, You deliver' Daniel from the lions den,
Also deliver Jonah from the belly of the whale and then
Three Hebrew chillen from the firey furnace,
Oh the good book do dclare.
Oh Lord, if you can't help me, for goodness sake
Don' You help tha bear!
