When the letter came this morning
Happy teardrops filled my eyes
It had a picture of a smiling face
And a ticket tucked inside

The Kudzu vines are winding
Up the trees beside the road
The grass is getting greener

As the train pulls to the gate

With cap in hand he stands there
Every hair is combed in place
His shiny boots reflecting
The big smile on his face
