I like the song a great deal. I think the lyrics refer to the coming of Christ. That He, Christ, passed by our side and left us such a great feeling. When he walked on earth we actually had a chance of beholding his face. It is only in Him that a thousand years would only feel like a short period of time that Don Carlos is talking about.
The song brings feelings of nostalgia.
