The Deer's Cry lyrics

I arise today:
Through a mighty strength received by the invocation of the Most Holy Trinity;
Through a belief in the Threeness,
Through a confession of the Oneness of the Creator of all things visible and invisible.

I arise today:
Through the strength of Christ's Birth and His Baptism;
Through the strength of His Crucifixion and Burial;
Through the strength of His Resurrection and Ascension;
Through the strength of His descent for Judgement Day.

I arise today:
In hope of the Resurrection to meet with reward;
Through the merits of the love of Cherubim;
Through the merits of the service of Archangels;
Through the merits of the obedience of the Angels;
Through the merits of the prayers of the Patriarchs;
Through the merits of the predictions of the Prophets;
Through the merits of the preaching of the Apostles;
Through the merits of the faith of the Confessors;
Through the merits of the innocence of all Holy Virgins;
Through the merits of the deeds of all righteous men.

I arise today:
Through the strength of Heaven
which creates:
the light of the sun,
the radiance of the moon,
the splendor of fire,
the speed of lightning,
the swiftness of the winds,
the depth of the seas,
the stability of the earth,
the firmness of rocks.

I arise today
Through God’s Strength to guide me;
Through God’s Might to uphold me;
Through God's Wisdom to teach me;
Through God's Eye to watch over me;
Through God's Ear to hear me;
Through God's Word to speak for me;
Through God's Hand to guard me;
Through God's Way which lies before me;
Through God's Shield which protects me;
Through God's Host to secure me:
against the snares of the devil,
against the temptation of vices,
against the inclinations of nature,
against everyone who desires to harm me -
whether near or far, alone or with many.

I arise today:
Through a mighty strength received by the invocation of the Most Holy Trinity;
Through a belief in the Threeness,
Through a confession of the Oneness of the Creator of all things visible and invisible.
Salvation is of the Lord.
Salvation is from the Lord.
Salvation is of Christ.
May Thy salvation, O Lord, be ever with us. Amen

St Patrick, Pray for us.

    The song is beautiful but the lyrics are incomplete. I posted the correct version. Enjoy. In this day and age this is a powerful prayer to invoke protection against the forces of evil.

    The story goes that St Patrick gave this prayer to his monks to protect them as they journeyed through Ireland. The king at that time was Loegaire who reigned from 428 to 462. Loegaire hated St Patrick and set up ambushes to capture & kill his monks. In reciting his prayer the monks became invisible to these forces of evil. To the assasins the monks appeared as deer and hence the connection to the name of this prayer.

    I received this gift from a true Irish Catholic on this past St Patrick's Day 2013.

    This song performed by "Lisa" was played during the mass at St. John's Episcopal in Clearwater, Fl. this past Suday 16th 0f May, 2010.
    The words are so purifying, her voice overwhelming.
    The church was drawn to silence during the song.
    I look at it each morning since when I'm alone on the internet-& just listen.

    Beautiful

    This was played at my grandson's blessing ceremony. It was beautiful and very appropriate for the celebration of this gift from God.
