STREETLIGHTS

I don't walk down by the river
or those pretty back roads where no one else goes
I don't cut through the park after it's dark
how quickly these little towns grow

Will you go walking with me tonight
I used to think I was fine if I stayed with the streetlights
But I've seen how much help a streetlight can be
would you go walking with me

I know I should not talk to strangers
or be out late at night all alone
I shouldn't sing songs that might lead you on
Maybe I shouldn't leave home

If I wish on a star tonight
I will wish through the walls where those stars might be
cause my little town one night let me down
and I found a big city street.
