A Glimpse of the Weave lyrics

It can happen in the middle of a crowded street
In the middle of a crowded life
In the middle of a crowded mind
Or even in a life where every thing seems neat
All the questions answered, all the bound’ries clearly defined
Suddenly you’re looking down on the street
Hovering over the life, floating outside the mind
And you feel as if you’re finally home______

But it only lasts an instant
And you snap back into form
With a tiny wisp of sadness
That you can’t stay there forever

But you re-mem-ber that no-thing lasts for-ev-er
Time is only time
Noth-ing lasts for-ever.
Not ignorance, not bliss, not tomorrow, not this,
Not fear, not love…Well…may-be love.

But perhaps it changes form and just when you think it dies
A new emotion’s born to fill the space
And once in a great while a-gain you’ll see be-hind the scenes
You’ll snag on-to a thread that pulls you to a place
Where dreams that fill your head are wo-ven delicate as lace.
Where possibilities lie raveled in their skeins
Where learning opportunities have not yet turned to pains
Where some-how it all makes sense again.

In a blink of the com-plet-ed pic-ture puz-zle in some future perfect tense,
And then you feel as if the gods have shared a gift
As if somehow they’ve granted a repreieve
From a dark and narrow place.

A gift you find you’re desp-rate to receive,
A state of grace
A vision of the grand design,
A taste of the divine
A glimpse of the weave.

And you’re sure your life has changed
Though nothing lasts for-ever
Not sight, not memory, not change…
Well…may-be change.

But having seen, you feel as if the muddle isn’t quite so muddled anymore
Having seen the ocean as a puddle and death as just another door
You recommit to doing what you know you came here for.

For a moment, I remembered what I came here for,
And I fin’lly heard the warn-ing cries of friends.
Fin’lly felt the warmth when they reached out.
Fin’lly saw that someone’s death is not an end,
It often is a means for those of us still living to dis-co-ver what our life’s about.

I remembered something,
Something bigger than want or even need
Something that felt like “con-ten-ted”
I know it’s crazy, but something that felt like healed

Some-thing-that-felt like-be-ing-freed

And I suddenly re-mem-bered what it takes to make life shine
And the patterns that were shining there before me
Were the patterns I designed.

There’s a secret in here somewhere in my heart and in my mind.
And I’m sure that it’s con-nect-ed to a shi-ning u-ni-ver-sal an-swer
That a-ny one of us can find.

And I think I almost heard a click as if I’d accessed some new gear
So maybe getting up the hills will be a little easier
Working up to love in the face of so much fear

I remembered something bigger than fear.
I remembered something big
I remember, I remembered some-thing big.
I remember, I remembered
I remembered

Fear is what we learn.
Love is who we are
Rhyme is what it doesn’t have to do unless we want it to
Oh

It’s only life.
It’s only life
It’s on-ly life
