Yellow Lights lyrics
Yellow lights and railways are floating through the clouds,
They're carrying away such needless sounds
Before it's finally over, a gale will clear the ground
And a swarm of cars and homes are skyward bound
And many firmly clutch their keys and float up in a daze
Computers start imploding the streets are erased
Our currency's combusting till the banks are set ablaze
I watch the corporations fall and make their graves
So I'll sit and I'll watch; with a curious look just as time seems to stop
And we're left with ourselves
And I refuse to speak up, but I'm wishing them well, So fare thee well
And those left standing slowly step over debris,
Rejoicing for the clean slate that set us free
"Peace and just equality! A democratic rebirth!
Let us build such a society upon this earth!"
And it starts, fists are raised
This new life is reason enough to celebrate!
And they'll laugh till they cry
Because deep down an anxiety is resting inside of them all, (oh oh)
O' what a view! I think Henry would probably be proud, oh, he'd probably be proud.
Here's a toast! To a beautiful, untainted world! (no, no, no)
Yellow lights and railways are put back on the ground
With the sounds of new technology blaring loud
And those that strove for renaissance slowly tighten up their ties
And the dreams of a utopia have slowly died, now
So they'll sit and they'll cry
Just wishing for changes and cursing in spite
It was all just a matter of time; And those dreams of utopia have withered and died
It seems that dream is finally over, no, no, no no-no
That dream is finally over
(That dream is finally over)
