In the quiet misty morning
When the moon has gone to bed,
When the sparrows stop their singing
And the sky is clear and red,
When the summer's ceased its gleaming
When the corn is past its prime,
When adventure's lost its meaning -
I'll be homeward bound in time
Bind me not to the pasture
Chain me not to the plow
Set me free to find my calling
And I'll return to you somehow
If you find it's me you're missing
If you're hoping I'll return,
To your thoughts I'll soon be listening,
And in the road I'll stop and turn
Then the wind will set me racing
As my journey nears its end
And the path I'll be retracing
When I'm homeward bound again
Bind me not to the pasture
Chain me not to the plow
Set me free to find my calling
And I'll return to you somehow
(softly)
In the quiet misty morning
When the moon has gone to bed,
When the sparrows stop their singing
I'll be homeward bound again.

This helped a lot. Thanks for the lyrics.
This is the most stunningly beautiful song I have heard in ages. I was completely captivated. Thank you for the lyrics. This kind of music lifts the soul and touches the heart.
I remember listening to this song after my grandpa died. This truly is one of the deepest and most moving songs I have ever heard.
I love this song. It's my dream to have this music sang by our Ward choir.
I'm singing this song for a solo in solo & ensemble. It's a beautimous song. Very nice.
Who wrote such a beautiful song?
I desperately want a recording of this song. What CD is it on? How can I get it?
Jared... The Mormon Tabernacle Choir have it recorded on their CD.. "Love is Spoken Here"... The music is so haunting and beautiful... their recording of it brings tears to my eyes... and now that I know all of the words to it... I have been deeply moved and know that the Author was Inspired to write it...I am sure the CD won't be hard to find...Sally

Yes! I listened to the Tabernacle Choir sing this and I fell in love with it AND them! Thanks for the lyrics--they really helped me today.
When I watch the video, the Mormon Tabernacle Choir is not singing Homeward Bound, but Danny Boy.
Thanks for checking this. Homeward Bound is a beautiful sound and I would enjoy hearing it sung by the Choir. I have the instrumental music by William Joseph and he does a stirring performance.
Sincerely,
Janice Ericksonamazing Song! I love this song so much!!!
