City Of Delusion Lyrics & Video
Muse See albums and popular songs
Stay away from me
Build a fortress
And shield your beliefs
Touch the divine
As we fall in line
Can I believe
When I don't trust
All your theories
Turn to dust
I choose to hide
From the all seeing eye
Destroy this City of Delusion
Break these walls down
I will avenge
Justify my reasons
With your blood
You'll not rest
Settle for less
Until you guzzle
And squander whats left
Do not deny
that you live and let die
Destroy this City of Delusion
Break these walls down
I will fight
Justify my reasons
With your blood
Destroy this City of Delusion
Break these walls down
I will fight
Justify my reasons
With your blood

My favourite song on the album. It shows Muse's spanishy influence. The lyrics are the best on the album in my opinion, and it works well with the music. Thank you Muse!
awsome song bass solo rox
Hello everybody I'm from Mexico & I think this song is the best on the BH&R
Does anyone know what this song is about
i didn,t caught even a wrd...and the lyrics is so diff from the song...i dunno bt STEVE sounds as a baby lisping...so i can,t catch anything @ all...plz help me!
SIRheya. i love this song sooo much. will have a stab at what the lyrics mean:
i know a guy that went to school with matt B, who said he's really spiritual person, so im guessing this is about the section of the revalation (in the bible) where the wild beast destroys the harlot babylon the Great (world government agencies including the UN destroy False Religion)'shield your beliefs, touch the divine as we fall in line' sounds like when they announce no more religion, thats what the people who secretly still believe will be doing, while they 'fall in line' with what the authorities demand of them.
vs 2 and 3 describe the city of delusion which is the governments etc who believe they have the power over the people, the 'all seeing eye' so-to-speak, but as he says 'you're not divine' and will eventually be fought against because they ultimately are to blame for whatever it is that is each persons particular problem with society..
aghhh that was deep. maybe i'm wrong and its about blackholes not revelations ;)i think it's "i will avenge" rather than "i will fight". thanks for lyrics though.
"All your theories turn to dust" looks to me like a critique of creationism and religious restrictions on science (Coppernicus comes to mind), claiming that creationism is doomed to failure as it is overwhelmed by evidence against it. Alternately, the word "theories" really sounds more like "fairies" to me, and perhaps this is an attack on supernaturalism, likening such beings as angels and demons to mythical fairies.
The "city of delusion" is religion and religiously motivated politics, like the religious right of American politics. "I will avenge, justify my reasons with your blood" seems to reference religious fanatacism and Islamic terrorism. "Guzzl[ing] and squander[ing] what's left" seems to refer to environmental policies motizated by a deep-rooted belief that a God will pop up and end the world in a few decades so there is no reason to conserve anything.
"Do not deny that you live and let die" is a reference to the hypocrisy of American religion, which advocates compassion for the poor, etc. while massive economic inequality is still present and very little is successfully done about it, yet people refuse to admit this fact. Frankly, I believe that this song is directed at the flaws of religion. But, then again, it's certainly open to interpretation (now if that doesn't sound like a Theologian, I don't know what does).
In the third paragraph instead of "Break these walls down," it says "Dreak." Great song though.
In my interpretation this lyric, or part of it, is about the illegal imigration problems that the EUA and Europe face. The first verses fit well into this interpretation, as well as the music, in the case of the mexican immigration in the EUA.
the walls are real in the Mexico-EUA frontier. But who knows? this just my contribution.
I found this band a bit late, but I am liking them alot. Well played music, nice lyrics, good alternative rock.
