Siuil A Run lyrics
Siuil, siuil, siuil a ruin
Siuil go sochair agus siuil go ciuin
Siuil go doras agus ealaigh liom
(Chorus)
Siuil, siuil, siuil a ruin
Siuil go sochair agus siuil go ciuin
Siuil go doras agus ealaigh liom
Is go dte tu mo mhuirnin slan
I wish I was on yonder hill
'Tis there I'd sit and cry my fill
Until every tear would turn a mill
I'll sell my rod, I'll sell my reel
I'll sell my only spinning wheel
To buy my love a sword of steel
(Chorus)
I'll dye my petticoats, I'll dye them red
And "round the world I'll beg my bread
Until my parents shall wish me dead
(Chorus three times)

I first heard the piece late at night on a public television program featuring Celtic Woman. I was absolutely spellbound. Wonderfully arranged, this beautiful somewhat melancholy Irish tune is very mystical and dreamlike. Sung with angelic purity, the haunting quality of Orla Fallon's voice touched a nerve and appealed to something deep within my soul. I was choked up with emotion. The melody stuck in my head and I longed to hear it again. I was fortunate enough to attend a live Celtic Woman concert and hear Orla sing it once more. What an incredible experience!
