If I ever went to Bethlehem two thousand years ago –

And found the little stable that the world has come to know.

Would His parents let me see Him – were I to softly say:

‘Please can I get close to Him – and see Him in the hay?’

Could I look into the manger?

Could I hold his tiny hand?

Could I touch the baby Jesus –

And could I hold him in my arms?

If I did these things and made Him cry would it be because of me?

Or would He cry when others came and held Him carefully?

If I didn’t bring a present to give to Him that day –

Would it matter much to Him –could I see Him anyway?
