Ruby and Lou lyrics

Ruby and Lou began meeting int he break room of a grocery store
They saved a thousand dollars and left
Her mother on disability and his mother and her four other kids
They caught a ride to Spokane and rented out a room
Spent everyday in bed and at night they did too
See they thought they were finally free of it

Ruby and Lou took a bus to Portland
They rented out a room in a downtown hotel, but their money started running low
Ruby met a kid named Dallas who was living on the streets
They let him use their room once when they weren't around
But Dallas found Lou's .22 and blew his brains out
They saw him lying there so they took all their things and skipped out

What if the whole world is cursed?
Ruby said it might be but since they were together she knew they weren't
They saved another thousand and left
Lou said maybe it was just the West
Ruby said it might be, so for years they just kept heading east
