Woodpigeon Follow

An entanglement of weeds,
Kept your hand from me,
So I slipped into the heath.

And you fell back on the heath,
Trampled under feet,
And then slided into sleep.

And the mud got in my eyes,
As I watched you change in size,
The river sneaks and hides.

With my dear friend out of sight,
The water took me right,
I'm running out of fight.

Fold me blanket for some sleep,
I contemplate the deep,
Water held me in its teeth.

And the path the river makes,
Swivels moves and snakes,
Keeping everything it takes.

And I don't know where I am,
Don't recognize the land,
Grabbing up with empty hands.

How can this be?
It's not the proper end for me,
Tell my mother you were scared,
And know your every (????)
Taking blame I couldn't have.

And the water standing red,
Bleeding from the head,
I'm as good as dead.

And the river wide and still,
Grown hungry by the kill,
That is waiting now until.

Please won't someone see,
How can this be the end for me?
I'm know I'm falling underneath,
Rapids grabbing out to me,
It's impossible to breathe,
