We drove all night, and half the next day

Up through the mountains to the open space

Got through registration, searched for my dorm,

I was so thankful he'd been there before.

He carried my boxes, he helped me unpack

Told old college stories until I laughed

But the tears started falling as we ran out of time,

And I did all I could to avoid his goodbye.

He said I wish I could stay here,

It's hard on me too.
