Sheep and the Goats lyrics

THE SHEEP AND THE GOATS ©2008 Jefferson Pepper, American Fallout.com

The sheep and the goats are silent tonight, herded by the Son of Man / The goats on the left and the sheep on the right, waiting to hear the plan / On and on and on and on the future’s here the past is gone / The Shepherd’s sitting on His throne, the angels ring the bells / The nations now are gathered as the Shepherd clears his throat / It’s bad news for His flock of sheep but good news for the goats / On and on and on and on He lists the things that they did wrong / “You’re banished from this heavenly home, down to the gates of Hell” / The sheep were shocked and awestruck, surprised to hear their fate / For they’d had perfect church attendance and they’d passed the collection plate / On and on and on and on they knelt down at the Shepherd’s throne / And cried in vain for Him to take them home to His heavenly estate / What brought them to this awful place? What virtues did they lack? / The Shepherd said “I’ll tell you now, though it’s too late to go back / Go now to the River Styx, you ones upon my right / For those whom you have wrongly judged shall be with me tonight / For whenever I was hungry they gave me food to eat / When I was thirsty in the desert they gave me water to drink / When I was a stranger who lost my way, they gave me a place to stay / And came to visit every day whenever I was sick / When I was poor and naked they gave me clothes to wear / When I was locked in prison they came to see me there / Look forward to eternity, all of you who did these things for me / But most of all for the least of these my brothers everywhere”
