Cad E Sin Don Te Sin lyrics
Chuaigh mé chun aonaigh is dhíol mé mo bhó
Ar chúig phunta airgid is ar ghiní bhuí óir
Má ólaim an t-airgead is má bhronnaim an t-ór
Ó cad é sin do'n té sin nach mbaineann sin dó
Má théim 'na choille chraobhaigh a chruinniú sméara nó cró
A bhaint úllaí de ghéaga nó a bhuachailleacht bó
Má shíním seal uaire faoi chrann a dhéanamh só
Ó cad é sin do'n té sin nach mbaineann sin dó
Má théimse chuig airnéal is rince is spórt
Chuig aonach is rásaí 's gach cruinniú den tsórt
Má chím daoine súgach is má bhím súgach leo
Ó cad é sin do'n té sin nach mbaineann sin dó
Deir daoine go bhfuil mé gan rath 's gan dóigh
Gan earra gan éadach gan bólacht ná stór
Má tá mise sásta i mó chónaí i gcró
Ó cad é sin do'n té sin nach mbaineann sin dó
Chuaigh mé chun aonaigh is dhíol mé mo bhó
Ar chúig phunta airgid is ar ghiní bhuí óir
Má ólaim an t-airgead is má bhronnaim an t-ór
Ó cad é sin do'n té sin nach mbaineann sin dó

Mait thu, Fiach. Ta do fhaclan ceart!
(Good on you, Fiach - your words are right.)
Sameera, nice try, but you need to do a lot more study of the Gaeilge before you attempt a translation.
As to "copyright" on these lyrics - as Father Jack Hackett would say - "Me arse!" They are from the old traditional music, and not subject to copyright!

Quite a literal translation with some explanations.
I went to the fair and sold my cow
For five pounds of silver and a yellow guinea of gold
If I drink the silver and if I give away the gold (i.e if i spend it all on alcohol and give it away)
O what is that to anyone else (literally what is that to the person who it doesn't involve - basically mind your own business)
If I go to the wooded forests gathering berries or nuts (craobhaigh is genetive case of craobh meaning branch),
Plucking apples from branches or herding cows,
If I stretch out for a while beneath a tree relaxing,
O what is that to anyone else.
If I go for a night-visit and dancing and sport,
To fairs and races and every gathering of that sort,
If I see merry (tipsy) people and if I'm merry (tipsy) with them,
O what is that to anyone else.
People say I'm without prosperity and direction,
Without goods or clothes or cattle or a love (stór is an affectionate word for lover),
If I a happy living in a hovel (literally a pen),
O what is that to anyone else.

I went to fairs and sell my bhó
Five phunta money is on ghiní yellow gold
Ólaim If the money is if the gold bhronnaim
From what this person is not do'n so concerned that he
If I get 'the choille chraobhaigh meeting smeara or blood
To achieve úllaí of ghéaga or cow bhuachailleacht
If shíním turn off under a tree luxury
From what this person is not do'n so concerned that he
If it théimse to airnéal dance sport
Fair to the races' s every meeting of tsórt
If chím people súgach them is if I'm ever súgach
From what this person is not do'n so concerned that he
People say that I am without success' s not likely
Not without clothing items without bólacht than repository
If i am happy living in more gcró
From what this person is not do'n so concerned that he
I went to fairs and sell my bhó
Five phunta money is on ghiní yellow gold
Ólaim If the money is if the gold bhronnaim
From what this person is not do'n so concerned that he

This is my favorite Orla song at the moment, and I was hoping to see the English words here. The song is so lyrical and such melodious accompaniment, I switch to it first when her album comes on. She is such a wonderful, accomplished performer.
