See our boys go down the field,
All their marching skills revealed;
They're marching, we're watching;
That's a darn good deal!

Look at the cute High School Cadets!
We're taking bets on which one gets the prize.
They look so handsome in those suits;
Their shiny boots are dazz'ling to our eyes.

See them marching down the road
Never complaining about their load.
We shall meet them at the end,
Telling them we are so proud.

Those rifles look so doggone real!
They're made of steel, and we should realize
They handle them with all the skill
You could instill in soldiers twice their size!

Cadence counting as they go,
Holding their weapons and heads just so.
They all want that trophy, too.
Maybe it's only for show?

It's the Regimental Drill Competition!
Officers wearing gold epaulettes,
And we'll all be rooting for our cadets!
They'll keep their heads no matter how intense it gets!

We support our boys in this competition;
We'll all be cheering and yelling yells!
And we know those guns will be handled well;
They don't have firing pins so they won't shoot themselves!

Oh, many's the time they have been on parade
And we watched as our hearts filled with fervor
And many's the time we have watched as they drilled,
Working hard to fulfill this endeavor.
Oh, many's the time we have hoped they'd remain
In the ROTC for a nice time,
And many's the time we could see in their future
The pride that will last for a lifetime.

"Forward, march!" says the Sarge,
And they smartly step ahead,
"Column left!" we hear next,
And we see them turning sharp.
"Detail, halt!" he then barks,
And they all come to a stop.
It's so stirring to see him acting
Like a traffic cop!

"Order, arms!" the command,
And their rifles come to rest:
You can see in their eyes
They're determined to be best!
"Present, arms!" shouts the Sarge,
All the guns come up in front!
We will never regret the day
We taught those boys to hunt!
